Let’s Acknowledge Raleigh's continued growth, and the potential for positive benefits from wisely directed, well planned development to promote prosperity and economic heath for all. It is estimated that we will see an additional 200,000 new residents in Raleigh by 2030. How we plan for and accommodate these new neighbors will have a profound impact on our future.
We have a great opportunity with the realization of Raleigh’s new Comprehensive Plan, and soon to come new Zoning Code, to set high standards for new development.
Let’s encourage high quality, pedestrian and transit friendly projects where they make sense. Let’s make sure that neighborhoods and other cultural resources, which really are what give our City its quality of life, are respected and enhanced by new projects.
We can set the bar for quality higher, and in return offer a more certain route for approvals to those teams that meet our communities standards.
Raleighs’ CAC system of neighborhood participation can be enhanced. Let’s offer support of Planning staff to all CAC groups to help understand and navigate development and approvals in their districts.
Growth and development is an engine of our prosperity, offering jobs, new opportunities for work, shopping, arts and leisure. Properly directed and managed, we can create a more walkable, sustainable, and greener City for all of us.
